First thanks to everyone who attended the first meeting we talked about a few things,
1. ASDA needs some new posters they should be 11x7 with .25 margin all around.
if you want to do a poster but don't quite know where to start you can take a look at
psdtuts.com
vectuts.com
bittbox.com
gomediazine.com
notcot.com
these site have a lot of inspiring pieces and free design tools ect to help you get started.
2. ASDA also needs a new website. The new website will most likely be powered by wordpress (wordpress.org) you can check there for themes that other designers have made for it.
What we are looking for is a Photoshop mock up of how you think the web page should look once it is finished. The site should be 960px with a main content area sidebar header and footer areas.
you can find some tutorials for mocking up websites in photoshop at psdtuts.com you can find other inspiration and resources at bittbox.com and gomediazone.com. you can look at other well designed pages at favup.com
3. ASDA is considering making merchandise to sell the machine project. some initial ideas include papercraft professors, good/bad karma cards, and limited edition posters. If you have other idea you would like to include just send me an email (asda@uoregon.edu) and we can talk about it at the next meeting.
4. Photo night where students can bring in work to get photographed by ASDA students is another project we want to get underway. we will need posters for this as well as volunteers to manage projects, take photos transfer photos and give people a rundown on how to use the photos.
we are thinking about doing these nights on a regular basic what do you think is best?
5. Louie has a web design job for us for Adaptive Sports Club/Accessibility Student Union
ASDA Design Firm,
I met with the student coordinator for the Adaptive Sports Club, and
leader of the Accessibility Student Union tonight. He is interested in
getting a website up to represent both groups, and looking for someone
to build the sites. Would be a great opportunity for someone to add to
their portfolio, and add a great line to their resume. I do not know
if this would be a paying gig or not.
The contact for this job is Eli Ettinger, eettinge@uoregon.edu
Hope to see you at the meeting tomorrow.
-Louie
Thats all for this week if you have any questions or want some more information about something just email asda@uoregon.edu and I'll get back to you.
